🌐General

No, Pantoh is free for users. We make all of our core features free so that we can build a vibrant and active community where anyone can thrive and make cooking work for themselves, regardless of why and how they cook.

Pantoh is a revolutionary recipe platform designed to make cooking easy and personalized. The word “Pantoh” is a Taiwanese word for the traditional roadside banquet where communities and neighbors get together to celebrate life's biggest events over delicious food — fostering the sense of community we all need in today's world.

With Pantoh, you can expect thoughtful designs and features all geared towards making cooking work for our users, regardless of why they cook. We recognize that some of us may cook because we love food, while others may cook for family or because of dietary restrictions. Pantoh's features are designed to meet you where you are.

Pantoh recognizes that everyone cooks for different reasons and has innovative features designed to make cooking work for our users.

  • Recipe Customization — Pantoh users can easily customize any recipe they find on Pantoh. Our innovative interface saves a new version and shows you all of the differences.
  • Pantoh Community — We believe cooking shouldn't be a lonely experience. Our users can easily find others that share the same dietary preferences or restrictions, making it easy to find cooking inspirations and customizations that work for you.
  • Personal Sous Chef — Pantoh works with registered dietitians to provide substitution suggestions for the most common ingredients, eliminating last-minute research at the store and empowering you to make decisions that work best for you.

We are big believers in doing what's right. You will find the Report function when you click on the 3 vertical dots on each recipe. We ask that you provide as much information as possible so that we can manage the concern efficiently.

🚀Onboarding

Dietary Preferences
Users can choose from a list of the most common diets in the US including Gluten-Free, Halal, Heart-Healthy, Ketogenic, Kosher, Low Carb, Pescatarian, Vegan and Vegetarian. This supports multi-choice selections as we recognize users may be cooking for their households. This setting can be updated after registration in the Profile page.

Selections here will help us find the most relevant recipes for you in the For You section of our Discover experience.

Dietary Restrictions
Users can choose a specific allergen or allergen group. For example, if you are allergic to peanuts only, Pantoh will show you recipes without peanuts in the For You section in Discover. You may still find recipes containing peanuts in other sections of Discover.

Let us know if we can add more selections to make cooking easier for you. Contact us at support@pantoh.app.

The Profile page is where users can access general settings, including units of measurement, leaving feedback, accessing Pantoh's Terms of Service and Privacy Policies, and requesting to delete your account.

📖Recipe Details

Simply click on the user icon above the recipe name. This takes you directly to the author's profile page, where you can follow or share their profile.

Pantoh applies dietary and allergen badges to all recipes so users can make the best decisions about whether a recipe is suitable for them. The badges reflect the Dietary Preferences and Dietary Restrictions that Pantoh maintains in the system.

To access detailed descriptions, click on the i icon on any recipe page.

Pantoh Flavor Balance lets users rate every recipe based on 5 basic flavors: Salty, Spicy, Bitter, Sweet and Sour, from 0 (not applicable) to 5 (strongest).

This system shows a baseline community average for every recipe, and with every recipe you rate, Pantoh learns a little more about your flavor preferences. Our goal is to eventually provide personalized customization recommendations that are truly personal to you.

Pantoh's Personal Sous Chef aggregates ingredient and substitution information for the most common ingredients. We work with registered dietitians to ensure the information is sufficient and accurate.

  • Circulation icons — Substitution information is available for this ingredient.
  • Warning icons — This ingredient is a known allergen.

Click on any ingredient to see its information through the Personal Sous Chef overlay. The Personal Sous Chef button below Ingredients shows the aggregated information for the entire recipe.

Leave a Review allows users to review recipes they have made. You can attach your own images, rate the recipe, add comments and adjust the Flavor Balance meters based on your experience. This helps Pantoh learn more about your flavor profile and provide more personalized recommendations over time.

  • Bookmark — Press the Bookmark icon to save a recipe for later. Find all saved recipes in the Cookbook section.
  • Share — Share any recipe with Pantoh users by searching a username, or choose Share Link to get a direct link to share via your mobile device's built-in sharing functions.
  • Add to Collection — Add to any existing collection or create a new one.
  • Report — Use the Report feature to flag any content you believe to be inappropriate or illegal.

📚Cookbook & Content Management

Cookbook is where you organize all your recipes — ones you create, import or customize, ones you bookmark, and ones shared with you. There are 3 top folders:

  • My Recipes — All created or imported recipes by the user, including drafts.
  • Customizations — All customized recipes by the user.
  • Saved and Shared — All recipes users have bookmarked or that have been shared with them.

Cookbook is the starting point to create any content in Pantoh. Click the Plus icon in the lower right-hand corner to create a recipe manually, import by URL, import by text, or create collections.

My Collections shows all collections you have created, making it super easy to organize your many recipes.

This is where you can find all recipes or collections that have been shared with you on Pantoh.

✏️Recipe Creation, Import & Sharing

There are 3 primary ways to add your recipes to Pantoh:

  • Create Recipes Manually — Manually enter all the information needed for the recipe.
  • Import Recipes by URL — Using AI, Pantoh allows users to easily import recipes by providing the URL to the recipe page.
  • Import Recipes by Text — Using AI, Pantoh allows users to easily import recipes by providing the recipe text directly.
Imported recipes may be subject to copyright protections. If you would like to share recipes broadly on Pantoh, please make sure you have the necessary rights. If you are not the author of the recipe, consider using your own images and re-writing the description in your own voice.

No! While Pantoh makes new and imported recipes public by default, you always have the choice. There are 3 privacy options:

  • Private — Visible to the author only. Find your private content in Cookbook.
  • Private with select access — Share with specific Pantoh users by username, or share a private collection via deep links on your smartphone.

Yes, as the author you can always edit your own recipes.

🔧Recipe Customizations

Click the Customize button at the bottom of any recipe page. Pantoh brings up the customization flow with the source recipe already pre-filled.

We encourage you to use your own images and update Cooking Time, Difficulty and Flavor Balance accordingly. Key areas to customize:

  • Recipe Name and Description — Update to reflect your customization.
  • Ingredients — Pre-filled from the source. Add, subtract or substitute to make the recipe yours.
  • Method — Pre-filled from the source. Edit directly on this page.
  • Tags — Update to ensure dietary and allergen badges are accurate so your recipe can be discovered easily.

After saving, you'll be asked for the reason for your customization. This helps Pantoh categorize it in Community Customizations so others can find it easily.

Yes! Customized recipes show an on-screen toggle “Toggle to see modifications from source recipe” under Ingredients and Method. Switching it on automatically highlights all changes:

  • + for ingredient additions
  • for ingredient subtractions
  • (return symbol) for ingredient replacements

Source Recipes — You will see only the Customizations (x) button below the dietary badges, where X shows how many times the recipe has been customized on Pantoh.

A recipe is considered a source recipe if it was created or imported by a user on Pantoh. It doesn't necessarily mean it's an original — it can be an adaptation that a user re-created or imported.

Customized Recipes — You will see two options: Source Recipe (takes you to the original) and Customizations (x) (takes you to the Community Customizations page).

In Community Customizations, use the on-screen filters to quickly group customizations by reason, such as flavor preferences or dietary needs.
