Ingredients

  • 2 cupSifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tspBaking powder
  • 0.5 tspSoda
  • 0.5 tspSalt
  • 2 tspGinger
  • 0.5 tspAllspice
  • 0.5 tspCinnamon
  • 0.5 cupShortening, soft
  • 0.5 cupBrown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2Eggs
  • 0.5 cupLight molasses
  • 1 cupCooked oatmeal, cooled*

Instructions

    Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices into bowl.

    Add remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 F.) 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets; cool. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.

    *NOTE: Cook Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) according to package directions.
