Saffron Latte Recipe
Adoped from Amanda Hansen, Instagram @SourdoughSparrow Yes, saffron is the worlds most EXPENSIVE spice, so buying this in bulk isn't cheap, but it's because it's benefits are beyond amazing. If you can think of it as a proactive investment in your mental health and truly buy the good stuff sourced from @herayspice who source their saffron from Afghanistan farmers, it's worth every penny. I only started feeling actual results when I bought saffron from them, instead of the loz bottles I got at costo that are sourced from Spain. There are other ways to get it...like in supplements, pre-made latte mixes, etc. but I wanted to know exactly what was going into my lattes, which is why I make them myself.
Ingredients
- 2 cupmilk (I prefer raw whole milk)
- 3 strandshigh quality saffron threads (ground down and bloomed like I did in the mortar and pestle)
- ⅛ tsporganic cardamom
- 0.25 tsporganic ground ginger
- 0.5 tsporganic powdered turmeric
- 0.25 tspcinnamon
- pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tolsorganic pure maple syrup
Instructions
- 1
In a small pot on medium heat, place milk, bloomed saffron, cardamom, ginger, turmeric and maple syrup.
- 2
If you have a handheld frother, you can mix Everything together so there's no lumps.
- 3
If not, add the other spices to the mortar and pestle and then add to the pot.
- 4
Heat until nice and warm.
- 5
Do not simmer or boil it (especially if using raw milk).
- 6
Pour into a mug or large glass if you'd like to add ice and for a cold iced latte.
- 7
Enjoy!!
